Genetics PhD Degree Overview
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced courses in genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology
- Regular participation in the genetics seminar series
- Three seminar presentations
- At least one semester of teaching in a genetics course
- Successful completion of a comprehensive examination
- Research dissertation and oral defense
Curriculum
A student-customized curriculum is a feature of GAP. Except for two required courses, each GAP student designs a customized curriculum with the guidance of their five-member PhD doctoral committee. A minimum of 72 hours is required to graduate. Fifteen of those hours must be approved advanced genetics-related courses. View our course catalog for all MU Courses.
